Community Standards

1. Purpose and Scope

1.1 Mission Alignment

OJAI exists to support environmental and conservation organizations and coalitions by enabling collaboration, knowledge sharing, and impact reporting. These Community Standards ("Standards") apply to all use of the OJAI platform, websites, and related services ("Services") and are incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service. The Services are provided by Forge Blue Inc., a Delaware corporation doing business as OJAI, Principal Place: 12117 NW 47th Manor, Coral Springs, FL 33076; Registered Agent and Legal Notice Address: 251 Little Falls Drive, Wilmington, DE 19808; Telephone: 407-222-7227; Email: info@ojai.global, privacy@ojai.global, support@ojai.global, accessibility@ojai.global.

1.2 Applicability

These Standards apply to all users and organizations, including Admins, Editors, Members, and Viewers. Violations may result in content moderation actions and/or account restrictions, suspension, or termination, as described in Section 7. By creating an account with affirmative checkbox acceptance, you agree to these Standards.

2. Community Expectations

2.1 Respectful Conduct

Treat others with respect and professionalism; harassment, threats, hateful or discriminatory conduct are prohibited. Debate ideas, not people; avoid personal attacks or doxxing.

2.2 Accuracy and Integrity

Strive for accuracy in shared resources, data, maps, and stories. Clearly label speculative or emerging information and provide citations where possible. OJAI provides manual sharing tools only and is not an emergency alerting or public-health notification system. Do not use the Services to issue emergency alerts. Impact information is self-reported by member organizations and is not independently verified by OJAI.

2.3 Environmental Focus

Use the Services in ways that advance environmental and conservation outcomes. Do not undermine the community's mission with unrelated or harmful content or activities.

3. Prohibited Content

3.1 Harassment and Hate

Content that insults, demeans, bullies, threatens, or harasses individuals or groups is prohibited. Hate speech targeting protected characteristics (e.g., race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sexual orientation, gender, or gender identity) is prohibited.

3.2 Violence and Criminal Activity

Content that promotes, incites, or depicts violence, self-harm, or criminal activity is prohibited. Instructions for illegal activities or procurement of weapons or contraband are prohibited.

3.3 Misinformation and Harmful Practices

Content that materially misleads about environmental risks, scientific findings, or safety practices in a manner likely to cause harm is prohibited. Do not publish unverified claims that pollution levels have spiked or that regulatory action has occurred unless you have a reasonable basis. Fraud, scams, phishing, and deceptive schemes are prohibited. Content that purports to prove systemic inequities must be supported by methodology and labeled appropriately.

3.4 Sexual Content and Exploitation

Sexually explicit content, sexual exploitation, or content sexualizing minors is strictly prohibited.

3.5 Intellectual Property Infringement

Do not post content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other rights. Respect licenses and attribution requirements. Follow the DMCA process described in the Terms of Service Section 7 for reporting or contesting alleged infringement.

3.6 Privacy Violations

Do not share personal data or confidential information of others without authorization; do not engage in doxxing. Do not share Sensitive Content as defined in Section 5.4 without appropriate permissions and private-by-default settings.

3.7 Malware and Technical Abuse

Do not upload malware, conduct phishing, brute force, or attempt to bypass security measures. Do not disrupt the Services or attempt to access accounts or data without authorization.

4. Prohibited Activities Specific to OJAI's Mission

4.1 Misaligned Political Activity

Partisan political campaigning unrelated to environmental and conservation outcomes is prohibited. Lobbying or advocacy unrelated to environmental or conservation causes is prohibited.

4.2 Unrelated Commercial Solicitation

Unsolicited advertising or commercial solicitation for products or services unrelated to environmental collaboration is prohibited.

4.3 Scraping and Surveillance

Data scraping, harvesting, or automated extraction of content or personal data without prior written consent is prohibited. Surveillance or monitoring activities that infringe privacy or civil liberties are prohibited.

4.4 Harmful or Misaligned Use

Activities that promote discrimination, harassment, or misinformation, or that conflict with the platform's environmental mission, are prohibited. OJAI is not a charitable fundraising platform; do not solicit charitable donations through the Services on behalf of charities. Funding Opportunity Postings are informational only.

5. User-Generated Content (UGC) and Attribution

5.1 Permitted UGC

Users may post text, photos, videos, audio, datasets, event listings, resource files, maps, and comments consistent with these Standards and the Terms of Service, including AI-generated content that complies with Section 6.

5.2 Ownership and Rights

You retain ownership of your UGC. You grant OJAI the licenses stated in the Terms of Service Section 6.3 to host, store, cache, reproduce, display, and distribute UGC solely to operate the Services. The license ends when your UGC is deleted via self-service tools or upon termination, subject to a limited backup tail of up to ninety (90) days. Marketing and public communications use requires your separate opt-in consent. Sensitive Content is excluded from marketing use and model training without separate opt-in consent.

5.3 Attribution and Licensing

Provide accurate attribution for datasets, maps, and third-party materials, and honor license terms (e.g., Creative Commons, open data licenses). Clearly label AI-generated content where doing so would avoid confusion or where required by law or policy, and do not remove AI-generated content labels applied by the Services.

5.4 Sensitive Content

Sensitive Content means: (a) Indigenous Knowledge; (b) precise locality data for endangered, threatened, or protected species, habitats, or biodiversity sites; (c) culturally significant sites, sacred sites, or private community data where disclosure could cause harm; and (d) any content designated as sensitive at upload. Requirements: (i) obtain appropriate permissions and free, prior, and informed consent for Indigenous Knowledge; (ii) designate Sensitive Content at upload using the product's designation feature; (iii) select private-by-default sharing for Sensitive Content; (iv) use generalized coordinates (e.g., 10km grid or watershed) unless private sharing is selected; and (v) follow applicable laws and ethical guidelines. Product features support designation at upload, private-by-default, coordinate generalization, and access logging. Precise coordinates of endangered or threatened species, sacred sites, or culturally significant locations must not be published publicly without authorization and appropriate generalization. OJAI will not use Sensitive Content for marketing or to train general models without your separate opt-in consent. See Terms of Service Sections 5.4 and 6.3.

6. AI-Generated Content and Automated Tools

6.1 Allowance and Responsibilities

AI-generated content is allowed, provided it: (a) does not violate intellectual property rights, promote harmful practices, or include discriminatory or offensive material; (b) complies with applicable laws, including copyright and data protection laws; (c) you remain fully responsible for verifying accuracy and ensuring compliance; (d) you clearly label AI-generated content where required and do not remove labels applied by the Services; and (e) you do not use AI features to create Sensitive Content without additional human review and permissions pursuant to Section 5.4. You must not use AI features to generate precise endangered species locality data for public disclosure.

6.2 Moderation Assistance and AI Disclosure

OJAI may use automated tools, including artificial intelligence, to assist in detecting, prioritizing, and reviewing potential policy violations; human review may follow. AI-generated content in the Services is labeled as AI-generated. Conversational AI features, including AI Copilot, disclose that they are AI when interacting with users pursuant to EU AI Act Article 50. AI outputs may be inaccurate and should be verified. Automated tools may err; report concerns via the channels in Section 8.

7. Enforcement and Consequences

7.1 Graduated Enforcement

We use a range of actions based on severity and context, in accordance with applicable law including EU Digital Services Act where applicable: (i) warnings or education for first or minor violations; (ii) content removal, edits, or visibility limits with a statement of reasons; (iii) feature restrictions or temporary suspensions; and (iv) permanent account termination for severe or repeated violations. For EU users, we provide a statement of reasons for moderation actions including legal basis, facts, and redress options.

7.2 Immediate Actions

We may immediately restrict or suspend accounts for activities posing legal risk, security threats, nonpayment, or abuse/misuse (see Terms of Service Section 12), including unauthorized disclosure of Sensitive Content, publication of precise endangered species locations, or sharing Indigenous Knowledge without consent.

7.3 Organizational Accountability

For organizational workspaces, Admins may be notified of violations by users within their organization and may be asked to take corrective action.

7.4 Appeal Process

You may appeal moderation or enforcement decisions by contacting support as described in Section 8. We will review appeals and respond within a commercially reasonable timeframe, typically within five (5) business days. For EU users, we provide access to an internal complaint-handling system and out-of-court dispute settlement options where required by the Digital Services Act. If your appeal is granted, we will reinstate content or access without undue delay.

8. Reporting and Support

8.1 Reporting Violations

8.2 Safety and Urgent Issues

For urgent threats to safety or illegal activity, contact local authorities first. You may also notify us so we can take appropriate platform actions. OJAI is not an emergency alerting system.

9. Data and Privacy Expectations

9.1 Personal Data Protection

Respect privacy and confidentiality. Do not collect, process, or share others' personal data without a lawful basis and authorization. Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy at https://ojai.global/privacy-policy, which is incorporated by reference. Where we act as processor, our Data Processing Addendum at https://ojai.global/dpa applies, including Standard Contractual Clauses and subprocessor list at https://ojai.global/subprocessors (AWS, OpenAI, Stripe, Google).

9.2 Sensitive Environmental and Community Data

Use the product's Sensitive Content designation features. Use discretion when sharing precise locations of sensitive habitats, species, or culturally significant sites; follow ethical guidelines and applicable laws; obtain permissions and free, prior, and informed consent for Indigenous Knowledge; select private-by-default and generalized coordinates; respect access logging. Do not use Sensitive Content for marketing without separate opt-in consent. We do not use Sensitive Content to train general models without separate opt-in consent.

10. Use of OJAI Content and Tools

10.1 OJAI Content License

OJAI may provide templates, datasets, maps, and documentation subject to a limited, revocable, non-sublicensable license as described in the Terms of Service Section 6.7.

10.2 No Misrepresentation

Do not imply endorsement by OJAI or Forge Blue Inc. without prior written consent. Do not misrepresent your identity or affiliations. Do not use logos of media outlets or other organizations to imply affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement without permission, and label any media or press references accurately.

11. Transparency and Corrections

11.1 Corrections and Retractions

If you discover errors in posted resources or datasets, correct them promptly or add clarifications. When appropriate, include revision notes or changelogs. If you have published impact claims (e.g., funding results, cleanup outcomes, regulatory actions), maintain documentation to substantiate such claims and correct or retract promptly if inaccurate.

11.2 Conflicts of Interest

Disclose material conflicts of interest when posting content that could be perceived as promotional or advocacy for a specific organization or product.

12. Children and Age Restrictions

12.1 No Users Under Thirteen (13)

The Services are not directed to children under thirteen (13), or under sixteen (16) where applicable, for direct account creation. You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account pursuant to Terms of Service Section 2.1. Organizations that invite members under 18 are solely responsible for obtaining parental consents and configuring spaces to private-by-default. Report any suspected underage use to privacy@ojai.global or info@ojai.global.

13. Regional Considerations

13.1 EU/UK Consumers

Nothing in these Standards limits non-waivable consumer rights under EU/UK law. Local law may provide additional rights or remedies, including rights to bring disputes in competent courts of your country of residence where required. For EU users, we provide statement of reasons, internal complaint-handling, and out-of-court dispute settlement information where required by the Digital Services Act.

13.2 Local Laws and Customs

Users must comply with local laws and regulations and consider local cultural sensitivities when posting or organizing activities.

14. Administration and Updates

14.1 Role of Administrators

Organizational Admins are responsible for managing users in their workspaces and enforcing these Standards within their communities.

14.2 Changes to These Standards

We may update these Standards to reflect evolving community needs, legal requirements, or product changes. Material changes will be communicated via thirty (30) days' advance notice via email to the account email and in-product notice with a summary of changes. Changes apply prospectively only from their effective date. Where a change materially reduces your rights or increases your obligations, we will require affirmative acceptance where required by law, and if you do not accept, you may terminate pursuant to Terms of Service Section 12.3. Continued use after the effective date and, where required, after affirmative acceptance, signifies acceptance.
